Customized Smart Buildings

Many digital technologies have already become part of everyday life – from intelligent parking management to systems for booking workplaces, hotel rooms and electric vehicles. But in a smart building, it’s not the number of built-in IoT technologies and sensors that matters, but the added value for users. Developers have to consider from the outset who theend users are, what they expect, and what digital functionality the building will have to provide.

What challenges do you face?

  • User requirements
  • Security vulnerabilities
  • Data protection
  • Cyber-attacks
  • Frequent updates
  • High costs
  • Building technical obsoletion by the time it is completed.

At Drees & Sommer, we do not see digital technologies as an end in themselves: Rather, they are about improving processes and user experience, ensuring sustainable operation of the property, and enabling new business models. For this reason, a Customized Smart Building is precisely tailored to the needs of its users. It can reliably monitor and control the processes that take place inside it, creating economic and environmental added value for all parties involved.

Our goal is to continuously improve the user experience for our customers and all other stakeholders.

Adapted to the customer’s needs, the Customised Smart Building has a kind of central brain, allowing it to learn from its users and adapt to their needs. Whilst meeting the highest IT security standards, the so-called ‘brain’ intelligently interlinks all technical systems and sensors – as well as planning, operational and user data – allowing it to control the processes in the building in the most efficient way. For example, the system detects areas not currently occupied and that do not require heating or cooling, and switches off the systems in these areas accordingly.
